16 Amazing Things People Have Found Buried In Their Backyards

SEPTEMBER 10, 2015  —  By Joe Welkie

As a kid, the backyard was the place where your wildest fantasies took place. You could play out there with your siblings, play with your toys, or just have an imagination-fest and roll around with nothing but your thoughts. I always used to play pirates with my sister in our backyard, and we would make people walk the plank, set sail on the high seas, and dig for treasure — but we would never have expected to actually find anything.

These people did what my sister and I never could. They found actual artifacts, treasures, and objects besides their own toys. Get ready for some of the craziest things that people found buried in their own backyards.

1. A fossilized whale was found in a man's backyard. It is believed to be between 14-16 million years old.

2. Someone found this WWII button in their yard.

3. A man found an 8.2 pound gold nugget in his backyard in California, and people believe there is more to be found.

4. A homeowner in Florida randomly found an old, abandoned Jeep in their backyard.

5. While cleaning her yard, a woman found a megalodon tooth.

6. In LA, a man found $175,000 worth of marijuana hidden in his yard.

7. People found a rare mutated, mixed-color flower.
