It's always sad to see homeless animals suffering, but it's especially heartbreaking when no one will help them.
Such was the case for one dog in Mexico City. In 2015, he was living on the streets, starving and covered in open cancerous tumors. The worst part, though, was that passersby didn't even give him a second glance.
It wasn't until one kind person saw him that he got the medical attention he desperately needed.
They were shocked at his condition, and quickly took him to Dalia Gamez, a local animal rights activist.
Gamez welcomed him with open arms and named him Bobby. She quickly took him to a veterinarian, who confirmed that his tumors were cancerous and that he was about two years old.
The vet recommended chemotherapy. There was no guarantee that Bobby would survive the treatment, but Gamez decided to go through with it in hopes that he would make it.
After eight sessions of chemo, Bobby was a whole new dog. Not only had he gained weight, but all of his tumors were gone!
Thanks to Gamez's care, the dog that everyone passed up on the street has a new lease on life.
The best part? Bobby finally got the loving family he always deserved.
