Before & After Photos Of Shelter Cats Show The Difference A Little Love Can Make

MARCH 27, 2015

Our pets enter our lives and change us forever with their adorable, unwavering affection. But that's a two-way street. They depend on us for so much more than just food, shelter, and cuddles.

When these cats were found in their respective shelters, they were in seriously rough shape. Matted fur, missing body parts, and scars that they'll carry around for the rest of their lives left them unwanted and overlooked.

But luckily, once they finally found their loving, forever homes, the transformation was breathtaking.

Warning: the "before" photos are difficult to look at.

Ears are overrated anyway.

A regal kitty was in there the whole time.

"You should see the other guy."

Gotta love that crooked-fur smile.

Now the only thing he has to worry about is which Christmas outfit to rock.

Still timid, but so fluffy.

He channeled his past into a lucrative modeling career.

You don't need two eyes to see that this puffball is perfection.

Much more comfortable sleeping arrangements, same sleeping position.

She has a newfound sense of adventure.

My, what big eyes you have!

She can finally catch up on her reading.

Who wouldn't want to come home to this handsome fella?

She only needs one eye to see how much she's loved.

Those snuggles jump-started her recovery.

From small to stretchy.

The way his whiskers curl makes me giggle.

Some things never change, like this cutie's face.

This pretty lady is all perked up.

"Hey you, I'm waiting for my belly rubs."

Only the fluffiest of pillows for this little guy now.

He was clearly meant for glory.

"Now that I can see it better, what the heck is that thing?"

He's the man of the house now.

Just look at those freckles!

While veterinary care was obviously necessary and did a lot to restore these cuties to their healthy, happy selves, it all started with the love of their owners. By looking past their tragic wounds, they saw a friend.
