SEPTEMBER 19, 2016  —  By Binny Gudjonsson

When Steve Alexy was a little boy, his parents were told he would never amount to anything because of his cerebral palsy.

But at the age of 43, he is smashing people's perceptions of him by working his way to bodybuilder stardom. A video posted to Facebook by fellow bodybuilder Suzi Farren Newman shows the moment Steve stepped onto the stage at a competition in Virginia and flexed his way into the hearts of spectators and judges.

Alexy ended up taking a trophy home, and his determination is now inspiring millions of people around the world.

His parents have been behind him every step of the way and they encouraged him when he first began working out in 2000.

The athlete said he wanted to show people that physical disabilities can't define anyone and that with enough courage, anything is possible.
