She Was Investigating An Empty House And Walked Out With A New Best Friend

MARCH 31, 2016  —  By Joe Welkie

Baltimore Police Officer Ashley Acord was on patrol recently when she thought she saw a person emerge from an abandoned house. Since no one should have been snooping around the vacant home, Acord grew suspicious and decided to investigate further.

What she found inside wasn't anything nefarious, but rather a lonely puppy tied to a doorknob. He wasn't showing signs of aggression and he was pretty well groomed, according to Officer Acord, so she brought him to the local animal shelter.

When Acord brought the abandoned dog to the animal shelter, she formed quite a bond with the pooch and immediately filled out the paperwork to adopt him.

The pup was put on "stray hold," a period of time where the rightful owner has a chance to claim the dog. After a few days without anyone coming for him, Acord was granted the adoption!

On March 20, Acord became his official mother and named him Grayson.

This happy little family look forward to years of happiness's clear Grayson will never be abandoned again!

What a heartwarming story of a hardworking police officer who went above and beyond the call of duty to rescue a helpless soul!
