To most people, attics are just extra space in some houses that hold insulation and bits of dust. But, if you look closely enough, most attics have treasures tucked away inside them, forgotten in the years. One Reddit user, while exploring his grandfather's attic for hidden goodies, stumbled across this medical chest. It's a piece of history.

It appeared to be a Japanese soldier's medicine chest.

There was some kind of writing on top (and throughout the chest). It was most likely used in the field.

After opening, there was a panel keeping all of the contents in place.

More writing.

Underneath the panel was all of the medicine and equipment a field doctor may need.

There were antibiotics, anti-malarial drugs, among other unknown substances.

Handling everything with care - and gloves - was a necessity.

It's safe to assume that most of these items were expired.

Way, way expired.

It's not every day that you will find such a unique treasure just laying around. It's undetermined if this Japanese (?) medicine chest was used during a certain war, but it's for certain a priceless piece of history. Source: reddit.com
