Jake Was Badly Burned In A Fire As A Pup, But His Story Is So Inspiring

MARCH 6, 2016  —  By Joe Welkie

Not many people would even consider abandoning a family member after they were caught in a house fire.

But Jake's family did just that.

When firefighters managed to pull the tiny pup from the flames, he had already suffered bad burns. His family took the poor boy to the vet...where they promptly abandoned him. But that's not where his story ends.

Jake was abandoned after a fire left him badly burned.

He was estimated to be only a few weeks old at the time.

After weeks of rehab, Jake made a full recovery. Sadly, though, his scars from the fire remained.

Fortunately for Jake, the firefighter who rescued him took him under his wing and adopted him.

Since then, he's been hanging out at the firehouse with his new owner.

He's even become the official mascot of the department, traveling around the city with firefighters when they give fire safety lectures at schools.

He was also officially sworn in by the city as a member of the department.

Jake plans to become a therapy dog to continue his helping ways!
