This College Student Did The Unthinkable When She Gave Birth In Her Dorm

When 19-year-old Amber Fulton discovered that she was pregnant, fear overcame the Claflin college student and she made the decision to keep the pregnancy from her family and friends.

Avoiding the issue at hand could only last so long, as Fulton had a child on the way. On Wednesday, October 9, the day Fulton had been dreading finally arrived. At around 4 a.m., she secretly gave birth to a healthy baby boy in her dorm.

Rather than taking the child to a nearby hospital, Fulton did the unthinkable.

After placing the newborn in a plastic shopping bag, she stuffed her son into a garbage bag and left him for dead in the trash.

When the dorm's cleaning staff arrived to take out the garbage, they heard a baby crying.

In a matter of seconds, they discovered Fulton's child inside one of the trash bags.

College employees quickly alerted the public safety department and called for medical help.

Following her arrest, the teen was taken to Orangeburg Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Both the mother and child are in stable condition. Fulton has been charged with attempted murder as well as illegal contact with a child.

While I can agree that the woman had a right to keep her pregnancy secret, I still don't know why the teen thought simply throwing away a life was the only option.
