If These People Hadn’t Been Nearby, This Orangutan Surely Would’ve Drowned

The rushing waters of Indonesia’s Lesan River were too much for this orangutan to handle.

Torrential downpours in the region caused river levels to get dangerously high, putting the defenseless orangutan in a life-or-death situation. Luckily for the ape, a group of rescuers happened to be at the right place at the right time. Rescuers from the Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) were able to reach out to the animal with loose tree branches, allowing it to climb out of the raging river.

If it weren’t for their quick thinking and bravery, this could’ve ended in tragedy.
