When I Saw This Was A Real Dog, I Fought Back Tears. But Now I'm Bawling... In A Good Way.

Sara has been working and writing online for so many years, she's unsure if she is still in corporeal form. She considers herself a jack of all trades, but would prefer it if you would stop calling her "Jack."

This isn't just a pile of fur and dirt. It's a dog named Shrek that had been neglected for so long, pounds of disgusting matted fur was hanging off of him. He could barely move the fur was so heavy. He was found in a field in Ontario by veterinarian Dr. Brenda Gough's husband. He was terrified and alone, but he was about to experience something he has never seen before: love.

Shrek could barely walk, his disgustingly matted fur was so heavy. It was amazing he was able to survive.

It's shocking just how neglected Shrek was. It's hard to imagine what caused him to be in this state.

After being rescued, he was quickly given a shave. The fur was so heavy and dirty it kept its shape after being shaved off.

It was a slow operation, but worth it to free the dog from his living tomb.

Shrek could finally see and move!

It took hours to get all of his hair off, but once it was, he was able to be given fluids and medication. He's on the road to recovery now.

"He is still terrified and nervous, but looking for human contact, and learning all about love", said Dr. Gough. Soon, he'll know what it's like to be part of a family and not a monster on the outside looking in. Source
