Over the years, I've listened to my aging loved ones fill my head with stories about the joys and pitfalls of growing old.

Every person I've talked to has their own secrets to staying young and living a long and prosperous life. However, I don't think any of their advice quite compares to the wise words offered by the world's oldest woman.

On November 29, Emma Morano celebrated her 117th birthday and solidified her place as the oldest woman in the world.

The distinction of being the oldest woman alive is nothing new to the Italian woman, who received official certification of her long-lasting achievement while celebrating her 116th birthday last year.

When asked about her secret to living a long and memorable life, Morano bluntly tells anyone she meets that it's because of her ability to stay single all these years.
