Writer and sassy ginger currently residing in central Pennsylvania. Matt spends most of his free time online shopping for clothing that he doesn't need, perfecting the art of eye-rolling, and indulging in all forms of pop culture.

Over the years, I've listened to my aging loved ones fill my head with stories about the joys and pitfalls of growing old.

Every person I've talked to has their own secrets to staying young and living a long and prosperous life. However, I don't think any of their advice quite compares to the wise words offered by the world's oldest woman.

On November 29, Emma Morano celebrated her 117th birthday and solidified her place as the oldest woman in the world.

The distinction of being the oldest woman alive is nothing new to the Italian woman, who received official certification of her long-lasting achievement while celebrating her 116th birthday last year.

When asked about her secret to living a long and memorable life, Morano bluntly tells anyone she meets that it's because of her ability to stay single all these years.

The woman was forced into an abusive marriage when she was just 26, and after the loss of their six-month-old boy, Morano got out of the relationship. She's been a single lady ever since!

The woman believes that the single life suited her better and as a strong, independent woman, she wasn't going to let another man try and "dominate" her.

Another health tip that has kept the elderly woman alive is eating raw eggs.

For decades, Morano has eaten two raw eggs every day as part of her breakfast.

This sassy lady is whip smart and anyone would be lucky to live such a full life.

I'm not sure how I feel about that raw egg situation, but I can certainly take a "Single Ladies" cue from Ms. Morano (and Beyonce, of course).
