A man has been arrested after his carelessness led to a deadly dog shooting in the streets of Bolton, England.

Police rushed to the scene after getting numerous reports of vicious dogs on the loose in town. Witnesses claim that at least five large dogs were attacking people, including some children. A 60-year-old woman was injured after being bitten on the hand by one of the dogs. Another man sustained injuries to his leg.

Superintendent Chris Allsop made a statement regarding the actions of law enforcement on the scene. He said, “Highly trained officers responded quickly to the scene and took control to avoid the situation from escalating. The officers acted with our number one priority in mind; to protect people and prevent them from harm.”

The owner was arrested on suspicions that he was allowing the dangerous dogs to act out in public. He only had some of the dogs on leashes, allowing the others to roam around freely. After the close-range shooting, he could be seen crying for the dead animals as he was taken into police custody.
